What is Sencha?

Sencha is the most popular type of tea in Japan. The leaves are steamed shortly after harvest to prevent oxidation, preserving their fresh, green color and healthy properties. This process gives sencha its characteristic, slightly grassy and refreshing flavor.

How to Brew the Perfect Cup

To bring out the best flavor in your sencha, temperature and time are crucial:

1. Use approximately 1 teaspoon (2-3g) of tea leaves per cup (approx. 180ml).

2. Heat the water to approx. 70-80°C. (Important: do not use boiling water, as this will make the tea bitter).

3. Pour the water over the tea leaves and let it steep for about 1 minute.

4. Strain the leaves and enjoy. The leaves can be used for a second and third brew.
